Treasurer Lynn Rogers Plans Visit to Topeka High School JAG-K Program

Topeka – State Treasurer Lynn Rogers plans to visit Topeka High School on Thursday, Oct. 7 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. to talk with students in the Jobs for America’s Graduates Kansas (JAG-K) program. This visit is part of his statewide tour that kicked off earlier this month. The tour is in partnership with JAG-K, and Rogers plans to visit all 79 programs to encourage students to keep following their dreams after high school.

“JAG-K is a great program that allows students to explore career paths and provides them with additional support until they graduate high school,” said State Treasurer Lynn Rogers. “We want to encourage these students to keep going and to achieve their dreams.”

On his visits to schools, Treasurer Rogers shares information with students about the Learning Quest 529 Savings accounts, the Sallie Mae ScholarShop search engine for scholarships, and answers to any questions students may have about saving for their next educational step.

JAG-K is a 501(c)3 non-profit that partners with public schools to offer an elective class for students in grades 7-12 to provide academic support to help students earn their diploma and transition into post-secondary school, the military, or directly into the workforce with marketable skills. Students are selected to join their local JAG-K program if they identify with at least five of the barriers to success recognized by JAG National standards.

So far, Treasurer Rogers has visited students at Wichita Northwest, Augusta, Winfield, and Ark City, with more visits planned.
